Supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and sustainability goals
RSK Middle East is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicholas Ramsden as the new country manager for Saudi Arabia. Nicholas brings over 17 years of experience in social impact assessment and mitigation and positive social impact maximisation for clients in the energy, extractives and agribusiness sectors. His extensive background will play a key role in advancing RSK’s efforts to support Saudi Arabia’s sustainability and development goals.
A wealth of global experience
Nicholas is British but was born and grew up in Papua New Guinea and has lived only around half his life in the UK. After university, he started his career in South Sudan, working for a UK aid programme. Prior to joining RSK, he worked for a boutique social performance consultancy, leading its Asia–Pacific regional office in Myanmar between 2014 and 2017. Here he delivered social investment projects for international energy and mining clients such as Shell, Woodside and Nautilus Minerals, as well as social impact measurement projects for western government aid programmes, including the UK and Australia. During the COVID pandemic, he led a UK aid programme focused on improving supply chain due diligence and human rights safeguards in the agricultural and garments sectors in Africa and South Asia. Nicholas has been part of the RSK International Projects Group for the last three and a half years, based in the UK but leading major livelihood restoration and social investment strategy projects for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies in Uganda, Tanzania and Iraq.
Renewable energy, giga-infrastructure and environmental sustainability initiatives
In his new role, Nicholas will build on RSK’s ongoing commitment to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by contributing to the country’s renewable energy, giga-infrastructure and environmental sustainability initiatives. RSK is already deeply involved in delivering innovative solutions for energy, water and environmental restoration projects across the region.
Nicholas’s expertise in designing and implementing robust social and environmental strategies will be vital in ensuring that the communities impacted by large-scale development projects not only benefit from these initiatives but are equipped for long-term, sustainable growth. His experience in stakeholder engagement, social investment and livelihood restoration will support RSK’s mission to create positive and lasting impacts for both local communities and the environment.
RSK’s continued growth in the region
Nicholas’s appointment is part of RSK’s strategic growth in the Middle East, where the company has been a trusted partner for sustainability-driven projects. RSK’s integrated approach to environmental consultancy, social responsibility and practical engineering provides the expertise needed to help Saudi Arabia meet its ambitious sustainability targets.
With a strong presence in the region and a focus on creating sustainable, innovative solutions, RSK is committed to supporting the kingdom’s transition to a greener future while ensuring that local communities are engaged, supported and empowered throughout the process.
