This Ramadan, RSK’s Iraq branch took proactive steps to support Bedouin families facing economic hardship by organising a staff fundraiser

Donations were generously matched by the company and together, we distributed 50 food baskets across the regions of South Rumaila, Artawi, Al-Hais and Umm Eneij.

Recognising the increasing challenges faced by the Bedouin community, the team focused its efforts on providing essential aid during this difficult time. The economic struggles of Bedouin families have worsened this year due to low rainfall and scarce natural grass growth, which are crucial for sustaining their livestock – their primary source of income. The lack of pastures has driven up fodder prices in local markets, making it difficult for families to feed their animals. As a result, many sheep and goats have perished, and malnutrition has led to the spread of disease among the remaining livestock.

With these hardships in mind, the RSK team in Iraq wanted to provide relief by ensuring food support reached those in need. Bedouin families expressed their gratitude for this initiative. Given the vast and remote nature of Bedouin settlements, some of the food baskets were entrusted to the tribal leader to distribute to families in the hardest-to-reach areas.

Additionally, RSK employee Lubna Alhamdan personally contributed by collecting and donating women’s and children’s clothing and shoes from her family and relatives, further supporting the Bedouin families.

RSK Middle East is proud of its Iraq branch for taking the initiative and upholding both the spirit of Ramadan and the company’s commitment to supporting communities in need. Through such efforts, RSK continues to foster deep relationships with local communities and provide aid where it is most needed.
